RTK | Search for an SDS
Updated over a week ago

You can quickly reach the SDS Library and your site’s collections by performing the following steps.

ACCESSING THE SDS COLLECTIONS

  1. Choose which SDS set you want to search in the Chemical / SDS Search window by clicking one of the following tabs:

    1. MY COLLECTION - Your site’s entire set of SDSs. This tab is automatically selected in the system by default.

    2. ENTERPRISE COLLECTION - Your organization’s entire collection with view-only SDS access for materials outside of your assigned location(s).

    3. BROWSE LIBRARY - SDSs owned by HSI and available for you to add to your site’s collection.

  2. Begin your search. See instructions below for additional information.

BASIC SEARCH

Use this method to perform a material search by entering search key words and adjusting filters to refine your results.

  1. From the dropdown list, decide which field category to search.

    1. Enter keywords or phrases in the Search field, separating words and phrases with a comma.

  2. (Optional) Click on "Search Filters" to add or edit search filters.

    1. Use the fields in the Search Filters slideout to refine the search results.

    2. Click Apply Filters button to view the refined results.

  3. For additional advanced search tips, click the black question mark icon.

  4. Click SEARCH COLLECTION.

NOTE: To maximize search results you can enable the system to automatically add wildcards to your search terms. See "Including Wildcard with Search Terms" in Managing Chemical/SDS Settings for more information. Also see "Customizing your Default Search Mode" to set your default search preferences; and to control which columns display in material searches, see "Customizing Search Results Columns" in the same article.

SEARCHING FOR AN ARCHIVED SDS

If you are looking for one or all of your archived SDSs, use the regular search method as described above. When you open the filter box, select Archived in the status field. This will show all the materials that have been archived, as well as the date they were archived.

VIEW THE MATERIALS / SDS AT A SPECIFIC LOCATION OR SITE

In the Chemical/SDS Search window, click on Search Filters. The top field is "Storage & Use Locations". Select your site, then click Apply Filters. The list that renders will be all the materials that are at that location.
